Gang violence is a fast-growing East Multnomah County issue threatening Gresham’s livability and requiring stepped-up, collaborative measures to address the problem.
A balance of prevention, intervention and suppression strategies is the only way any community has ever been able to curb the growth of gangs.

Gresham's comprehensive approach
The City is collaborating with a variety of regional partners to implement a coordinated and comprehensive approach to target the root causes of gang involvement in Gresham.
- Providing officers to the East Metro Gang Enforcement Team.
- Opening the Rockwood Public Safety Facility.
- Hiring gang outreach workers.
- Partnering with Friends of the Children to provide at-risk youth mentorship.
